Congratulations to the Wind Ensemble and Symphonic Band for both being invited to perform in the National Band Festival held in New York City -- March 22, 2008!

The Concert and Symphonic bands and the Wind Ensemble all received Sweepstakes awards (the highest rating) at State Festival this week. Congratulations to all the students and staff.

The junior varsity winterguard finished in first place in the Regional A caption and the Varsity group finished 2nd in the AA caption in the Louisiana Gulf Coast Winterguard circuit. Congratulations one and all!

We would also like to wish good luck to the Varsity in the Power Regional in Dallas and in Grand Nationals in Ohio on April 14.

The Lafayette High School Wind Ensemble and Percussion Ensemble performed recently at the Bands of America/Music for All National Concert Band and Percussion Ensemble Festival in Indianapolis, Indiana. Congratulations to all of the LHS musicians invited to perform at this prestigious event.

The LHS Mighty Lion Band earned Grand Champion honors at The Louisiana Showcase of Marching Bands on Saturday, November 4th!

In addition the Mighty Lion Band also earned the following awards:

• Class 4A/Open, First Place Band,
• Large Classes, First Place Band,
  
• Class 4A/Open, First Place Auxiliary,
• Overall Winner Auxiliary, and
  
• Class 4A/Open, Second Place Drum Major.

Well-deserved congratulations to the band members and staff for a great 2006 marching season!

The LHS Mighty Lion Marching Band competed in the Bands of America Super Regional competition in St. Louis, Missouri on October 21. Out of the 50 bands participating in this competition our LHS Mighty Lion Marching Band placed 17th!
